Disney Character Calls and Letters - Fact or Fiction?

What kid wouldn't want a Disney character to call or write them? I know my kids would love it. There are a variety of different ways out there to make it happen, or so we think. Unfortunately, many of the ways being advertised are not always reliable. So to give you the best information out there, we decided to do a little investigating. Here are 6 different ways your child could be contacted by a Disney character and whether or not it works.



1. Disney Junior "It's Your Birthday Character Call:

Celebrate your child's birthday with some of their Disney pals. If your child is turning between 2 and 7 then this can happen! Go to the Disney Junior  website and either sign in or create an account. In your profile there is an option to join the Disney Junior "It's Your Birthday" celebration. Once you sign up your kids you will have to wait for an e-mail to arrive just before their birthday. This email will give you further instructions on how to schedule the phone call for your child.

Did this work? We will let you know in January as that is when the next kid birthday will occur. But because this is coming directly from Disney Junior's website, the chances are high that our kids will be receiving a call on their birthday!


2. Disney Cruise Line's Pre-cruise Character Call: Guests sailing on Disney Cruise Line are entitled up to 2 phone calls from a Disney Character. Simply log into your reservation and search for Character Call. You will then be instructed to choose a character and schedule the time for your call.

Did this work? This is something we tried when before we sailed on the Dream in 2012 and I am happy to say it worked!!

3. Disney Enchanted Calls: Disney Enchanted Calls is another website that will help you schedule a phone call for your child. It costs $2.49 a call. First choose a character and theme. Then you will have the option to choose the occasion and type of message to send.

Did this work? Yes, it did. However, $2.49 seems a bit much for a 1 minute phone call. And that 1 minute included the introduction and the time given to get your child to the phone. But, in the end, it made one little girl very happy.


4. Pull-ups Potty Break Phone Call: Have a child who is potty training? Maybe Mike and Sully can offer them some encouragement. Pull-ups is offering some help in getting your child to take Potty Breaks. Follow this link to schedule a phone call from one of your favorite monsters.

Did this work? Yes it did! I scheduled this call for my son who will begin potty training any day now. I chose to have Sully call him. It was a short call which I guess was a good thing because he wasn't impressed one bit. (Ugh, two year olds) I thought it was very cute and a great way to motivate your child during potty training time.

5. Princess Calls by Target:

If you text Princess to 33992, you will receive a call from a Disney Princess.

Did it work? Nope! This was something that Target was doing a while ago. Sadly, this pin is still circulating around Pinterest which prompted me to try it.

6. Write a letter to your favorite Disney character and get a postcard back:

Recognize this picture? It has been all over Facebook and Pinterest for a while now.

Have your child write a letter to their favorite Disney character and they will write back. Send your letter to the address above.

Did it work? We decided to try this one out too. Here is our daughter writing her letter to Princess Aurora.

While our results are still pending, word on the street is that this will work, but not in the way advertised. You will receive a postcard back, but not necessarily from the character you choose.
