2013 Holiday Cookie Swap Hop

It's the time of the year for cookies and treats, so lets get together and share our favorite sweets!

Welcome to the First Annual

Holiday Cookie Swap Hop

It was hard to choose the type of cookie to make for the swap. I wanted something that would remind us of Disney, but be festive at the same time. Luckily, I found a treat that is the perfect combination of both. One of the best loved Disney cookies is the Magic Bar from The Wilderness Lodge. This ooey, gooey treat has everything in it. From sweet chocolate chips to crunchy nuts to flaky coconut, these bars have a little bit for everyone. A simple swap in chocolate chips turns these bars from a Disney favorite to a festive holiday treat.

Holiday Magic Cookie Bars

Recipe adapted from Magic Cookie Bars recipe from the Wilderness Lodge by The Disney Diner

Ingredients:

1 stick (1/2 cup butter)

1 and 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 can of sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
1 cup  holiday M&Ms
1 cup holiday chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
1 and 1/2 cups flaked coconut

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Put 1 stick of butter into a 13x9 baking dish and place in oven while it's preheating
  • Once butter is melted, take the pan out of the oven
  • Sprinkle the graham cracker crumbs over the butter, then press lightly with the back of a spoon
  • Pour sweetened condensed milk over the graham cracker
  • Sprinkle 1/2 of the M&Ms and 1/2 of the chocolate chips on top
  • Sprinkle nuts on top
  • Sprinkle coconut on top followed by remaining M&Ms and chocolate chips
  • Bake 25-30 minutes or until brown
  • Let cool completely before cutting
