Foodie Friday - Butterfinger Cupcakes!
Do we have your attention??
Some of our readers may remember one of our first food posts where we talked about the many great cupcakes you can find at Walt Disney World. We went back and dug up this pic of our homemade version of the Butterfinger Cupcake from Starring Rolls in Disney's Hollywood Studios. More pics of the process of making these cupcakes can be found on the original post.
They came out awesome! We loved them, our neighbors loved them, and my co-workers still rave about them! Here's the recipe to make these at home for yourself!

Foodie Friday- Nachos and a Margarita
Hola! This week's Foodie Friday takes us to Mexico. No, not the real Mexico, but the Mexico Pavilion in Epcot's World Showcase. If you're looking for a great counter service restaurant for lunch or even a quick snack, you should try La Cantina de San Angel. Two of my favorite eats at this place are the Nachos and the Classic Lime Margarita on the Rocks.
For $9.99 you can get a giant plate of mouthwatering nachos. That may seem like a lot for nachos, but they are big enough to share. These nachos start with a layer of corn tortilla chips. They are then topped with ground beef, nacho cheese, fresh tomatoes, jalepenos, black beans, and sour cream.
To wash down your nachos, I suggest you try a margarita! La Cantina de San Angel has 4 different kinds of Margaritas on their menu.

Frozen Wildberry Margarita $9.50
Frozen Passion Fruit Margarita $9.50

I opted for the Classic Lime Margarita on the Rocks. It was delicious and refreshing. The perfect drink for the spicy nachos.
Be sure to stop by La Cantina de San Angel on your next trip to World Showcase!

Foodie Friday- Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes from Kona Cafe
When people mention Kona Cafe at Disney's Polynesian Resort, the words Tonga Toast are probably the first that come to mind. But not for me. When I think of Kona, besides the coffee, I think of the delicious Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes I had the pleasure of eating.
These pancakes are light and fluffy with a little bit of crunch. Inside the batter are chopped macadamia nuts! On top is a warm pineapple sauce. But, to makes these even better, a mound of sweet and nutty macadamia nut butter lays on top. When all these components are combined together on your fork, they make a delicious bite. Sweet, tangy, buttery, nutty... can't get much better than these.
This breakfast is served with a side of fruit and your choice of ham, bacon or sausage for $10.49. Pair them with a steaming cup of Kona coffee and you're in Polynesian heaven!

Foodie Friday- Potato Leek Soup at Be Our Guest
On our last trip to Walt Disney World, for our anniversary, we had the pleasure of dining at Be Our Guest. The highlight of my meal was the Potato Leek Soup.
At first, I was nervous about ordering a creamy, potato based soup. I worried it would be too filling and would take away from the rest of the meal. Boy, was I wrong! I'm so glad I decided to order it.
The soup has a velvety texture, but is not 100% smooth. The small bits of potato were a nice surprise, especially for someone like me who likes a chunkier soup. You can also taste the oniony leeks. They are not overwhelming, but rather subtly there in the background. This soup is very satisfying, while not making you too full.
As you have probably guessed, I ate the whole bowl. I can't wait to go back to Be Our Guest to have it again. Maybe next time, I'll try it for lunch to accompany a salad or even quiche. Whether you visit Be Our Guest for lunch or dinner, the Potato Leek Soup is definitely a must try!

Foodie Friday - Indian Bread Service at Sanaa
On our last visit to Walt Disney World, we had the pleasure of dining at Sanaa at the Animal Kingdom Lodge-Kidani Village. With its views of the savanna and Indian/African fusion cooking, Sanaa has been added to my must eat list and will highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried it.
One of the highlights of our meal was the Indian Style bread service. When ordering this, you have 2 choices, 3 breads and 3 accompaniments or 3 breads and all 9 accompaniments.
photo courtesy of Disney Food Blog
For research sake (ha ha), we opted to try all 9. For our breads we chose the 3 different Naan breads, traditional, garlic-ginger and spiced.
The spiciest dips, Spicy Jalepeno-Lime Pickle, Garlic Pickle, and Red Chile Sambal, were in the middle of the dish. They were very spicy and would only recommend them to people who really love spicy food. The outer rows were a combo of sweet and spicy dips. After trying all 9, my favorites include the Cucumber Raita, Mango Chutney, and the Coconut Chutney. The Coriander Chutney and Roasted Red Bell Pepper Hummus were also very good. Although our kids didn't try the dips, they loved the Naan bread!
You know this was a memorable part of your meal when almost 3 weeks later, I am still craving it. This would be a fun dish to try to re-create at home (stay tuned)

Foodie Friday- Margherita Pizza from Via Napoli
Our favorite Disney food this Friday comes from a place we ate at for the first time last year, Via Napoli. This restaurant instantly became one of our family's must dos and the reason is all because of the pizza. When we ate there, we chose the Margherita. It was absolutely perfect!
Pizzas at Via Napoli are cooked in wood-burning ovens named after the 3 active Italian volcanoes. This helps the pizza get a crisp crust. To add to the crust, the pizza is topped with fresh tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella and lots of basil. Upon first bite, you can taste the tart sauce, the creamy cheese and the sweet yet spicy basil all working together to create a beautiful taste experience. It reminds me a lot of the pizza I ate while studying in Italy.
We leave for WDW tomorrow, but honestly, I can't wait for our ADR at Via Napoli on Monday! You can be sure that we will be ordering the Margherita pizza!

Foodie Friday- Nutella Waffle Sandwiches

This could arguably be a meal, but we're taking some liberties and calling it a snack. Imagine a large Belgian waffle, crisp on the outside, fluffy in the middle. Smothered on top of this delicious island of goodness, is a generous layer of Nutella. And to make this even better, a variety of mixed fruits lay on top. In short, it is heaven on a plate!
Want to know where to get one? Located in the Liberty Square section of the Magic Kingdom, Sleepy Hollow Refreshments offers a variety of waffle sandwiches through out the day in addition to beverages and snacks. You can choose between the Nutella waffle sandwich, a Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich, and a Ham, Prosciutto and Swiss sandwich.
Warning!! These sandwiches are HUGE! One could easily feed our little family of 4!
Our family loves these sandwiches so much, we often whip up a batch for special occasions like birthdays, Mother's Day, or the third Wednesday of the month.
Check out our at home twist here.

Foodie Friday: Palo's Chocolate Soufflé
Chocolate Soufflé at Palo aboard the Disney Dream
For this week's Foodie Friday, I chose the amazing Chocolate Soufflé served at Palo, aboard the Disney Dream (also served aboard other Disney ships as well). The light, moist chocolate cake, with your choice of vanilla or chocolate sauce, or maybe both, is the perfect way to end a meal at this incredible restaurant. If you haven't indulged yet, then be sure to put this on your Foodie Bucket List. It's an absolute must!If you'd like to read Lisa's take on her entire Palo experience, you can find it here.

Tasty Tuesday: Our Favorite Disney Meals
Parmesan and Oregano Crusted Rack of Lamb @ Palo on Disney Dream
This week we're remembering some of our favorite Disney dining experiences. We've eaten many meals at Disney World and a few on Disney cruises. We've had a few intimate meals, plenty of character meals, and even some large family meals. So which ones stand out to us?

There are several meals that I think I am doing a disservice to by not choosing them, but the most memorable experience for me was the time Lisa and I ate at Victoria and Albert's at the Grand Floridian. This was hands down the best meal I've ever eaten in my entire life! Add to that the atmosphere of dining in Disney's most upscale restaurant, with impeccable service, and this meal is the one all others will be compared to. This was several years ago and I didn't think to take pictures of the food then. I wish I had a picture of my roasted quail stuffed with Serrano ham and gruyere cheese.
I was always a picky eater growing up, and it was a few years prior to this meal that I started getting more adventurous. I've come a long way since then, but I still have some reservations. I wasn't sure what to expect at V & A's, but I soon found myself cleaning my plate every course. It didn't matter what it was. Everything was so delicious. I'd have eaten anything they put in front of me if the chef prepared it. I think it says a lot that they had my complete trust.

It was hard for me to choose my favorite Disney meal as I can safely say, I've never had a bad meal at Disney. Over the years, I've had the chance to sample a wide variety of restaurants, each being unique and special in their own way. After lots of thinking, I narrowed it down to two. But ultimately the one that won out is not only my favorite Disney meal, but it's also, hands down, my favorite meal of all time.
Palo on the Disney Dream
James and I had the opportunity to eat at Palo on our first Disney Cruise on the Wonder. We had a delicious meal with the highlight being the chocolate souffle. It was the souffle alone that prompted us to make another reservation on our Dream cruise. What made this experience blow the other one out of the water were three things: our waiter Antonio (buongiorno), time away with just James and the FOOD! Everything I ate that night was amazing. To this day I crave each course and can't wait until we sail again next year.
Appetizer:
Grilled Portobello Mushroom and Polenta
Entree: ( for this course I couldn't decide, so Antonio suggested I could get a full sized chicken and a side of the pasta, great idea)
Fagotti di Petto di Pollo con Ricotta e Basilico
Rosemary Pappardelle con Aragosta Lobster, parsley and fennel with chili and fresh tomato sauce
Chocolate Souffle with Vanilla Bean and Chocolate Sauces

'Ohana- I like 'Ohana because they have magic mickey waffles. I was eating my breakfast and finished my mickey waffles. I wished I had more. I turned around to find the person with the waffles. When I turned back around, I found one on my plate! It was like magic!
Animator's Palate on the Disney Dream - I like the Nemo restaurant because we got to talk to Crush. He played a joke and it was lots of fun. I liked seeing the fish on the screen. I also liked our waiter. He did magic tricks every night at dinner.
So what's your most memorable Disney meal? We'd love to hear about it!
